Next generation digital platform
Sharing health and care information to improve the lives of our citizens
The Greater Manchester vision is to make the city region one of the best places in the world to grow up, get on and grow old.
In Greater Manchester we're building the 'digital plumbing' so everyone can plug into a platform which leads to a central health and care record for all Greater Manchester citizens.
As part of the national digital vision for local health and care shared records, we are working with the NHS, councils and other public sector bodies across Greater Manchester to invest in new technologies that will digitally transform local services.
This initiative is funded in partnership with the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) and NHS England's Local Health and Care Record Exemplar (LHCRE) programme.
The programme is being delivered by Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust, in partnership with the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) and supported by the Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership (GMHSCP), Health Innovation Manchester and all health and social care providers in Greater Manchester.
Progress has already been made to join up digital systems between NHS and social care services across Greater Manchester. We're now putting in place new technology and systems so that people involved in health and care services can access and share accurate and appropriate information at a quicker pace, wherever they are.
We're developing an advanced technology solution that allows data from multiple sources to be re-used by a variety of systems, from different providers, to:
It will also support the analysis of rich data in health and care research to diagnose and treat diseases more effectively, as well as helping people to maintain good health and wellbeing
So people receiving health and care services will have a better experience and receive the best care when and where they want it. And people involved in health and care services can use and share accurate and appropriate information at a quicker pace, wherever they are.
This means lots of things to lots of people - so hear what the people of Greater Manchester are saying about what these changes will mean to them:
