Problem Statement

Technology Refresh needed.  The last time the telephony system was upgraded was 2008.  The current system is therefore very much at end of life.

What was the solution?

SRFT Telephony - Due to go-live in Dec 2020 

  • Urgent requirement to upgrade the Trust’s telephone infrastructure.

  • Current system was installed in 2008

  • This system has now passed its end of life date

  • Refresh to take place across Salford Care Org to the latest generation of IP-based Telephony technology.

  • Circa 5,700 telephone extensions will be migrated from the current system.

What are the Benefits.

Continuity of Support

  • If the upgrade did not take place, in the event of a technical issue the support provided will be based on ‘best endeavours’ with no guarantee the issue will be resolved.

  • The risk of failure and the impact posed is currently the highest scoring risk on the digital risk register.

Costs

  • More cost effective than the current solution

  • Using the Internet, calls travel as packets of data on shared lines, avoiding the tolls of the public switched telephone network
