The first part of the GDE Fractured Neck of Femur pathway is now live, supporting clinicians in recording and viewing Admission and Ward Round assessments within the Healthviews application.
OUR new initiative to help patients receive the right medicine on time, every time, is set for launch this month (November).
PillTime harnesses the very latest in robot technology to dispense patient medication in individual, sealed pouches.
To eliminate confusion, each pouch is clearly labelled with the dose as well as the day, date and time it has to be taken.
It marks the latest innovation to go live as part of our programme of more than 50 world-class projects being spearheaded by our Global Digital Exemplar and Future Digital teams.
The main advantages of PillTime include improvements to dispensing accuracy; fewer medication errors, and greater adherence to the prescription.
Thanks to input from our Pharmacy colleagues, PillTime is ready to be trialled initially among our intermediate care patients at Pendleton Suite to assist the nursing staff with their Medicines Administration.
The next stage of the pilot project, early in the New Year, will see it extend to benefit those patients discharged to Heartly Green and The Limes.
The first of the robotic dispensing machines – which use the latest in image recognition technology to ensure 100% accuracy – were installed into our Pharmacy department at the start of October.
Another aim for PillTime is to reduce the Pharmacy team’s workload sorting medication, freeing up Pharmacy staff such as pharmacists to help with patient outcomes.
Our aim is that longer-term it will have the added advantages of helping us achieve faster discharges and improve patient flow, as well as reduce the number of drug-related readmissions. It will also cut down on medicines waste.
