Our GDE programme is reshaping the way people work and really delivering results, says Rachel Dunscombe, Salford Royal's Director of Digital.
She was speaking at UK E Health Week in London to hundreds of digital health experts.
"We are moving at pace in Salford and our clinical satisfaction in our electronic patient record is high," explained Rachel.
The Trust recently carried out a KLASS survey to look across the whole organisation to find out the level of usability and satisfaction in the Allscripts EPR.
"We were really pleased with the outcome - compared with other providers, we are in the93rd percentile for provider satisfaction and in the 98th percentile for provider satisfaction with initial training.
"This really surprised us," said Rachel.
She feels the reasons for this are varied. At Salford, clinicians have a dedicated physical space, a Digital Experience Centre which acts as a front door for people to engage, test and explore new technology. The Digital Experience Centre has been funded by Allscripts.
"We're just about to bring in some new technology to test - apps, wearables and even unit dose robots coming in from Germany - so we can explore these things," she said.
"Matthew Swindell says we need to make more of what we've got. I interpret this as user centric design and tailoring what we have to needs of clinicians. So at Salford we have looked at our admissions document and admissions flow and really optimised this. We're also looking at the flow of kit and placement in the department," Rachel explained.
Rachel puts the successes at Salford down to "bimodal working, at pace". "We have ninjas and samurais managing this new world, doing cool things with new technology - it's about big systems, plan driven enterprise and long cycles. And we have to be agile.
"Salford is full of samurais and ninjas - both equally important. Everyone is engaged - they have a stake in our future. I'm incredibly proud we are punching well above our weight!" she said.
